2004’s devastating Indian Ocean tsunami shook everyone and it wasn’t difficult to bring together Liverpool’s finest bands, djs, vjs, poets and artists for the Valentine’s Day fundraising night, SWALK.
Working with three close friends against a difficult timescale, we organised a sell-out Sunday night at the Bumper nightclub with performances by local favourites The Joneses, The Cuckolds, Sizer Barker and the Hive Collective, graphic design and vjing from Burn, poetry from Mercy.
Ten original artworks were donated by leading northwest artists for the raffle as was a luxury free night at Hope St Hotel. The first prize in the raffle, a banana yellow vintage corvette wasn’t claimed on the night and was auctioned online to make a bit extra.
The grand total generated for Unicef as a result of SWALK was £5701.66 and this included a contribution from Baa Baa Group from the bar takings.
