Taking place from November 5th – 15th 2009, Wunderbar festival is a new, high profile, North East, participatory performance festival that will bring audiences and artists together on journeys of intrigue and wonder. Within the spirit of ‘Great art for everyone‘, Wunderbar will be an eclectic programme of new collaborations of live work, performances, visual art, installations and extraordinary happenings, presented alongside some of the most adventurous and brave new work from national and international artists.
With a strong partnership approach, the festival will be hosted by and produced in collaboration with Fierce Festival and a broad range of the region’s established venues, companies and artists. Organisations such as Baltic, Sage, Northern Stage and Theatre Royal will work alongside independent producers such as Waygood Gallery, Locus Plus and Culture Lab.
Mixing the experimental with the mainstream, the festival will take place on the streets, in shopping centres, by the quayside, in private houses and very public places, as well as traditional arts venues. In short, it will be hard to miss Wunderbar.
My role has been to manage corporate relations for the festival, identifying opportunities for companies to benefit from and grow with the event in its first year. I have initiated partnerships with a range of local companies in oirder to realise productions, however the main focus has been on designing and delivering a new regional staff engagement programme. For the first year the staff engagement programme is sponsored by Dickinson Dees and is further supported by The Sponsors Club for Arts and Business.
In view of the key messages Wunderbar Festival would like to convey throughout the festival, it is also positioned with fair trade chocolate brand, Divine Chocolate Limited.
