Everyone likes to ‘do their bit’ for the environment and I worked with Creative City to enable artist Sumer Erek to realise this ambitious installation in Spring 2008.
The Newspaper House is a response to the tonnes of free newssheet that litters London every day of the week. Erek built a house from recycled newspaper in Gillett Square, Dalston. The project was a hive of activity – from public interaction to open debates on art, recycling and the environment.
Newspaper House continues to tour the UK including to the prestigious Liverpool Biennale Independent Stand in 2008 whilst Liverpool is Capital of Culture.
