‘Seeing is Beliving’ By Katherine Whiteman
Drawing on my specialist knowledge of cultural festivals my role for International Festival of Glass was providing consultation on corporate relations. Over 40 days I secured and managed the benefits for a portfolio of sponsors to the value of £18,000. My approach was to design an effective strategy to move existing relations to a new level of sponsorship whilst putting in place the framework for future sponsorships to be developed.
The International Festival of Glass also hosts the UK’s première selling exhibition of contemporary glass, British Glass Biennale which has £14,000 in prize money to be won alongside its growing international status as the leading showcase for British based makers. A new prize was developed in 2008 with our sponsor Craftman Craft & Design magazine, The Peoples Prize. Visitors to the exhibition were encouraged to vote for their favourite artwork and as a result the winning artist was awarded with a media and business development package to the value of £5K.
“The award winning success of the International Festival of Glass was undoubtedly due to the brilliant and dedicated team, including the dynamic and enthusiastic Sarah Allen from Commissioner. Sarah ensured that the festival had excellent and supportive sponsors, who appreciated her professional and friendly approach . Highly recommended for creative project development, innovative fundraising ideas and quality event management”.
